(all ratings are from Randy and he always has honest reflections on his choices)

Coffee Lodge
400 Exmouth St, Sarnia ON

Randy and Shea took a caffeine-fueled expedition to the Coffee Lodge on Exmouth Street. Randy noted the brew was “ok” and the place was bustling, possibly because everyone was seeking refuge from the heat. The prices were higher than expected, with the treats seemingly dipped in gold! Wrestling with the manual front door was an event, and the narrow walkway was a tightrope act given his sight challenge. His walker barely squeezed in, and the small washrooms were like hobbit holes. On the bright side, the cashiers were all smiles, and they even played drink delivery service!
The Bridge - Patisserie & Cafe
132 Michigan Ave
Point Edward

Embarking on yet another epic coffee quest, we landed at The Bridge Patisserie & Café! This place was dripping with elegance and the treats practically begged to be devoured! But hold onto your wallets, folks—it’s a bit on the pricey side! The coffee turned into a showdown: Shea gave it a 4.5, while Randy, loyal to his Tim Horton's, gave it a solid 4 after a sip of Shea's brew. Randy switched gears to tea and was delighted by David's Tea!
Now, onto the adventure of accessibility! Shea performed a daring descent down a steep step to discover a spacious washroom with those all-important rails, but getting in required a sidekick, without and automatic door. The real test was ascending that step again! With a little magic the wonderfully helpful staff did some counter deconstruction, we rolled right back to the entrance.
As for Randy, with his sight challenges, he found the café a bit snug and on the dark side!

Randy and Shea popped into the Backhome Coffee shop on Christinia Street, and boy, what a gem they found! The place was decked out to impress, with "pretty good" accessibility. The only thing missing was an accessibility button. Randy did find it a tad on the dim side, though due to his vision challenges. The staff? Absolutely delightful, with friendliness and charm to spare. This spot quickly brewed its way into their favorites list! The treats looked scrumptious, but alas, they came with a price tag that made their wallets wince a little.

Randy and Shea made a pit stop at Sal’s Family Restaurant during their cruise adventure. The accessibility got a thumbs-up, with a nifty ramp for rolling right in! The double doors put up a bit of a fight, but once inside, it was smooth sailing (and no restroom detours required). They savored the coffee, with a young waitress who was attentive and friendly. And guess what? They cheekily indulged in some fish and chips too!

Global Donuts
1603 London Line
Sarnia ON

Randy suddenly had an epiphany and wanted to hit up Global Donuts next! Although he’s a die-hard Tim’s enthusiast, he sipped their coffee and remarked on its temperature!
The accessibility challenge was real though—no ramp and double doors. Luckily, a kind soul noticed our entrance and played the door-holding hero.
Maneuvering his walker into a cozy, non-obstructive nook was like a game of Tetris, but he savored his coffee in the end. He quickly gave his accessibility a rating of a generous 3. The service? Simply fabulous!

Blackwater Coffee
177 Christina St. N

Randy had a caffeine craving and set his sights on Blackwater Coffee on Christina Street. We gabbed about the lovely atmosphere and super-friendly staff. In a surprise twist, Randy went rogue and ordered tea, while his trusty sidekick stuck with coffee and loved every sip. Rolling in was a breeze, thanks to top-notch accessibility, though it got a bit snug for our wheels inside. The buzz on the ride home? A perfect 5-star rating was just a button away if only those restroom doors had been automatic!

Coffee Culture
130 Lochiel St

This was our first visit, as Randy was eager to give it a try! He mentioned that the coffee was decent but a touch too strong for his preference.
He rated the accessibility a 3.5. He made allowances for the situation, noting that we discovered a side entrance upon leaving, which we were unaware of before entering or exiting. The friendly young waitress kindly held the heavy door open when requested as Randy was assisted down the two steps; however, she did not mention the alternative exit.

Next, Randy was all fired up to explore the freshly spruced-up Tim Hortons on Lambton Mall Road, driven by pure curiosity! Since Tim’s Coffee is his undisputed favorite, the 5 out of 5 rating was as predictable as his morning brew. He was also tickled pink by the coffee shop’s easy access, rolling in like a boss!
